The story behind

Manifest Destiny, according to DoReSol

The song Manifest Destiny, with its 6 minutes and 22 seconds duration, is taken from Jamiroquai's second album, titled The Return of the Space Cowboy. This album, released in 1994, marked a turning point for the band, reaching second place on the UK Albums Chart and selling approximately 4,500,000 copies worldwide. Recording sessions for this work began in early 1994, driven by the previous success of the album Emergency on Planet Earth and the energy of their tours. The composition and arrangements of Manifest Destiny are credited to Jay Kay, who also handled the production. Jamiroquai, originally from London, was formed in 1992 and established itself as a force in international funk and acid jazz, fusing elements of disco and electronic music.

The group, led by vocalist Jason Kay, drew from the energy of musical improvisation, represented by the term "Jam", and the connection with indigenous Iroquois culture, from which their name originates. Alongside Jay Kay, the original members included Toby Smith on keyboards, Stuart Zender on bass, Nick Van Gelder on drums, and Wallis Buchanan on didgeridoo. Throughout their career, Jamiroquai has sold over forty million albums globally.
