The story behind
Love Chaser, according to DoReSol
The song Love Chaser, a composition by Joey Tempest, was originally released in 1986 as part of the album The Final Countdown. However, its first appearance as a single was exclusive to Japan, included in the soundtrack of the film Pride One. The B-side of this release included the song Carrie. Interestingly, the following year, the single was reissued in Japan, but this time with Carrie as the main track and with the same catalog number as the initial release. Joey Tempest wrote this piece in 1985, and the public first heard it during a tour in Sweden that same year, before it was officially recorded for the album in 1986. A particular detail is that the Japanese professional wrestler Yoshiaki Yatsu adopted it as his entrance music for his appearances in All Japan Pro Wrestling.
The recording of The Final Countdown, the album of which Love Chaser is a part, was a complex process that extended from September 1985 to March 1986. It took place in four different studios, spread across Europe and the United States. The production and mixing were handled by Kevin Elson, who already had experience working with bands like Journey and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The studios involved were Powerplay in Zurich, Soundtrade in Stockholm, Mastersound in Atlanta, and Fantasy in Berkeley. The album, released on May 26, 1986, by Epic Records, became Europe's biggest commercial success, selling over three million units in the United States alone. The final mix of Love Chaser featured the collaboration of Wally Buck alongside Kevin Elson.
