The story behind
lala, according to DoReSol
The hook of lala is that catchy chorus that sticks without needing explanations. There’s no clear story behind the lyrics, but that’s exactly what gives it strength: the song plays with the ambiguity of flirting, blending signals of affection and jealousy without settling on a single interpretation. What’s curious is how the public embraced it: on TikTok, most of the videos uploaded by users showed the same gesture, as if the tongue movement from the official video had become an unwritten code among those who listened to it. That, combined with the repetition of the chorus, turned the song from just another track on the album into a phenomenon that went beyond reggaeton.
The recording started in 2023, but the real breakthrough came months later. Myke Towers first released it as part of La Vida Es Una in March, but it was in July when the song exploded on platforms: it climbed to the top 5 in several countries on Spotify, surpassing everything he had done before in terms of streams. The official video, released the same day as the single, featured María Pedraza as the female lead, and although the lyric video had come out earlier, it was the visual version that finally cemented its moment. It was recorded under the label One World, Warner Latina and Warner Records, with a runtime of just over three minutes that, in practice, feels shorter due to the repetitive chorus.
