The story behind
I Can’t Live With You, according to DoReSol
The song I Can’t Live With You, which is part of the album Innuendo, was recorded during an intense period that spanned from March 1989 to November 1990. This album marked a milestone for the band Queen, being the first to be released by Hollywood Records in the United States and reaching the number one spot on the sales charts in the United Kingdom, where it remained for two weeks. Furthermore, Innuendo reached number one in countries such as Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland, consolidating its international impact. It was also Queen's first work to achieve gold certification in the United States since The Works, released in 1984. The production of this album was handled by David Richards and the band itself.
This album is particularly significant because it was the last studio work released while Freddie Mercury was still alive. Queen, formed in 1970 in London by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon, already had a consolidated career since the mid-70s with albums like Sheer Heart Attack (1974) and A Night at the Opera (1975), which opened the doors to the international music scene for them. Although the original quartet is no longer complete, Queen's artistic partnership has endured. The band is recognized for its musical versatility, its complex vocal harmonies and arrangements, and for having revolutionized live shows with impactful stage productions, such as those seen at events like Live Aid in 1985 and the concert at Wembley Stadium in 1986.
