When Air Supply released *Lost in Love* in March 1980, it marked a turning point for the duo. Until then, their four previous albums had not made much of an impact outside their native Australia. However, this album made a significant international impact, reaching No. 22 on the U.S. charts and spawning three singles that made it into the Top 5. In fact, the album was certified double platinum by the RIAA in 1991.

From *Lost in Love*, the title track, “Lost in Love,” reached number three on the U.S. charts in May 1980. Songwriter Graham Russell received awards for “Song of the Year” and “Most Played Song,” and for many, it became the duo’s signature song. The single “All Out of Love” was the album’s biggest hit, reaching number two in the U.S. The duo, consisting of Englishman Graham Russell and Australian Russell Hitchcock, first met while performing in the cast of the musical *Jesus Christ Superstar*. After teaming up with Frank Esler-Smith and Jeremy Paul, they signed with CBS Records and released their first album in 1976, which included the track “Love and Other Bruises,” reaching number five on the Australian charts. That same year, Rod Stewart invited them to open for him on a tour of the United States and Canada—an opportunity that boosted their fame in North America, prompting stores to demand more and more of their albums.
