The story behind

Free, according to DoReSol

The piece Free Spirit runs for seven minutes and thirty-three seconds, a sonic canvas that allows for the exploration of its constituent textures and layers. The recording featured the involvement of Charles Repka and Jeff Zaraya as engineers, while the production was handled by Ed Bland.

Prince Rogers Nelson, born in 1958 and passed away in 2016, was a multifaceted artist who left an indelible mark on music. Originally from Minneapolis, he explored genres such as rock, soul, and funk, also becoming known as "The artist formerly known as Prince" for a period. In the 1980s, he established himself as a key figure in musical innovation, being considered the creator of the distinctive "Minneapolis sound." This style began to take shape from his third album, Dirty Mind, and solidified in 1981's Controversy, even reflecting in the work of The Time. His peak arrived with the 1984 album and film Purple Rain, which included global hits like When Doves Cry and Let's Go Crazy. Throughout his career, he sold millions of records worldwide, and Purple Rain earned him an Oscar award, in addition to a Grammy for the album.
