The story behind

Every Second, Every Minute, according to DoReSol

When you dive into Every Second, Every Minute, you encounter a piece that, while not the best-known from the album 2 Years On, reveals a lot about the Bee Gees' dynamic at that time. The song, with a duration of 3:01, was produced by Barry Gibb, Maurice Gibb, Robin Gibb, and Robert Stigwood, and featured recording engineering by Lew Hahn and John Stewart. This track was recorded during a period when the group was reconfiguring, especially with the return of Robin Gibb after a disagreement that had led him to a temporary separation. It is interesting to note that Geoff Bridgford, who joined as drummer at this stage, appears on the recording of 2 Years On but was not included in the images on the album cover.

The album 2 Years On, released in 1970, marked a turning point for the Bee Gees. While "Lonely Days" stood out as the lead single, reaching good positions on the US charts, Every Second, Every Minute is part of that collection of songs reflecting the trio's sonic evolution. The Gibb brothers, originally from the Isle of Man and with a childhood shared between England and Australia, had returned to the UK in 1967, and by 1970 they were already a recognized pop act, although their biggest boom was yet to come. The particularity of their style, the close vocal harmonies, and Robin's distinctive vibrato, along with the falsetto that would later define Barry, are elements that can be appreciated in the construction of their songs, including this one.
