The story behind

Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy (The Electric Drill Song), according to DoReSol

In the recording of Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy (The Electric Drill Song), Mr. Big experimented with an unconventional technique to create a guitar solo. Instead of using only their hands, Gilbert and Sheehan used wireless Makita drills to spin them over the strings of their instruments. This maneuver allowed them to generate a speed in the solo that would be practically impossible to achieve otherwise, giving the song a distinctive and energetic sound. The total duration of this piece is 3 minutes and 56 seconds.

This track is part of the band's second studio album, Lean Into It, released on March 26, 1991. The album was a turning point for Mr. Big, reaching number 15 on the Billboard 200 charts. While the single To Be with You was the one that topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and Just Take My Heart also performed well, Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy (The Electric Drill Song) stands out for its bold sound. The production of this album was handled by Kevin Elson, who also participated in the recording engineering alongside Chris Kupper, David Luke, Scott Ralston, Michael Semanick, Tom Size, and Andy Udoff. The final mix was done by Kevin Elson and Tom Size. Interestingly, a section of this song, identified as "CDFF", is actually an accelerated version of Addicted to That Rush, a track from the band's 1989 self-titled debut album.
