The story behind
Chances, according to DoReSol
The song *Chances* by Air Supply, with a duration of 3:34, emerges as a piece that, although not explicitly mentioned in the details of its release, integrates into the context of an album that marked a before and after for the band. This album, titled Lost in Love and released in March 1980, was the one that finally captured international attention, unlike their previous works which had gone unnoticed outside of Australia. The impact of Lost in Love was significant, reaching number 22 on the United States charts and generating three singles that reached the top 5.
The history of Air Supply dates back to the union of two musicians: the Englishman Graham Russell and the Australian Russell Hitchcock. Both met while they were part of the cast of the play Jesus Christ Superstar. After sharing musical moments and adding Frank Esler-Smith and Jeremy Paul, they signed with CBS Records. Their first album, Air Supply, released in 1976, had a moderate reception in Australia with the track Love and Other Bruises. That same year, an invitation from Rod Stewart to be his opening act on a tour through the United States and Canada was a crucial boost for their fame in North America, generating high demand for their records. In that period, Jeremy Paul left the band to join DeVinyls. The album Lost in Love, which includes Chances, was certified 2× platinum by the RIAA in 1991.
