The story behind

This track, Black Pum Bum, has a duration of 3 minutes and 18 seconds. While it did not achieve the massive fame of other Prince tracks, it is part of his sonic universe, the one he himself helped to define. Prince Rogers Nelson, born in Minneapolis in 1958 and passed away in Chanhassen in 2016, was an artist who explored genres such as rock, soul, and funk, creating his own style.

During the 1980s, Prince consolidated himself as a key figure in musical innovation. He is credited with the creation of the so-called "Minneapolis sound," a sonic proposal that began to take shape on his third album, Dirty Mind, and was solidified in 1981's Controversy. This sound was also noticeable on the debut album of the band The Time. His moment of greatest recognition came with Purple Rain in 1984, both the album and the film. In the United States, he sold nearly 39.5 million albums, and worldwide sales exceeded 100 million. The track Purple Rain earned him an Oscar for Best Original Song Score, and the album also received a Grammy Award. Other tracks from that album, such as When Doves Cry and Let's Go Crazy, became global hits.
