The story behind
As, according to DoReSol
The song As, born from the creative mind of Stevie Wonder, was introduced to the world in 1976, as part of the ambitious triple album Songs in the Key of Life. This work is considered a highlight in the artist's most prolific period, which began in 1972 with Music of My Mind. By 1974, Wonder was already a prominent figure in popular music, with a streak of critically acclaimed albums. However, in March 1975, he was on the verge of leaving the music industry and moving to Ghana to help children with disabilities, even planning a farewell concert before reconsidering his decision.
The 1999 rendition of As by Mary J. Blige and George Michael gave it new life. This duet was included as the second single from George Michael's compilation album, Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best of George Michael, and also appeared as a bonus track on Mary J. Blige's album Mary. Although not officially released in the United States, this collaboration resonated strongly in the United Kingdom, reaching number 4 on the charts. The song, with a duration of 3:38, was produced by Stevie Wonder himself.
