Vicente Fernández

From Huentitán, in Jalisco, emerged a voice that became a benchmark of vernacular music. Vicente Fernández, known to many as Chente, built a career grounded in the passionate interpretation of ranchera music. His style, described as a reflection of the "old Mexico," evokes images of rural life, revolution, and a romantic view of culture, something that resonated deeply with audiences across the Latin world. Throughout his career, he recorded a vast amount of material, surpassing 50 albums, and also ventured into cinema, leaving a significant mark in both artistic fields.

His path in music began early, participating in amateur contests in Guadalajara from the age of 14. After appearing on local television programs, he moved to Mexico City, where he performed in restaurants and cabarets. In 1966, he signed a record contract that allowed him to release his first hits, such as Perdóname and Cantina del barrio. However, it was with songs like Volver, volver that his reach expanded exponentially. This song, in particular, became a ranchera anthem with international projection, breaking sales records in Latin America, Spain, and the United States, and solidifying his status as a central figure in the genre.
