Silk Sonic

Silk Sonic sounds like two musicians having fun while building something serious. Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak blend classic soul with modern grooves without losing sight of the groove that made them recognizable. Their music doesn’t sound like a calculated project, but rather like a pair of friends sitting in the studio and letting ideas flow. The result is a warm sound, with vocal harmonies that intertwine like in 70s records, but with a rhythm that pulses in the present.

Everything started in 2017, when Mars and .Paak crossed paths during the European tour for *24K Magic*. What began as a quick friendship turned into a creative bond. In 2020, while Mars was reviewing old recordings, they decided to shape those early ideas. The session ended up being a mix of jokes, friendly competition, and, above all, chemistry. The first track they finished together was "Smokin' out the Window", a song that came from a joke between them: the image of someone smoking nonstop while trying to solve a problem. What started as a game ended up being the seed of their debut album.
