Piero

When you listen to Piero, you encounter a voice that takes you through paths of reflection and feeling, often with a rhythmic base that invites you to move. He was born in Italy, in the region of Apulia, but his life and music became strongly anchored in Latin America, especially in Argentina, where he arrived as a very young child. His upbringing, which included years as a seminarian, gave him a particular sensitivity that was poured into songs with a strong social and pacifist message. Beyond the stage, Piero has been an active figure in various causes, supporting victims of conflicts and promoting global initiatives against hunger.

His musical journey had a turning point when he decided to take time off to find his own voice, far from the trends of the moment. It was during that period that he creatively partnered with writer José Tcherkaski, a duo that would yield significant results. Although massive success came with the interpretation of "Mi viejo," a piece that Tcherkaski had already written, it was the springboard for Piero to establish himself both in Argentina and internationally. Shortly after, he demonstrated his talent at important festivals, such as the one in Buenos Aires in 1969 with "Cómo somos," and in 1970, where he won the top awards at the Festival Internacional da Canção in Rio de Janeiro with the song "Pedro Nadie," a song that generated debate and was composed by both.

Biography

Throughout his career, Piero demonstrated a remarkable ability to connect with diverse audiences. In 1982, for example, he had a very active year, filling important venues in Buenos Aires and participating in rock festivals. Later, in 1985, a tour through Latin America, especially in Colombia and Ecuador, led him to gather tens of thousands of people, even participating in benefit events for victims of natural disasters. In the mid-80s, his musical focus shifted, leaving behind protest songs to dedicate himself to projects such as founding an ecological farm. In 1995, he embarked on the ambitious production of a double album dedicated to children's rights, a project that featured the collaboration of internationally renowned artists and whose royalties were donated to UNICEF.
