Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon is an American rock music group founded in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1999. It is formed by three brothers, Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill and their cousin Matthew Followill. Each family member is known by their middle name rather than their first name. The group's name derives from the father and grandfather of Nathan, Caleb and Jared, both named Leon. The band's music in its early days began alongside the strokes; it was an animated mix of southern rock and garage rock influences, but the band has gradually expanded over the years to include a variety of more alternative genres and also the arena rock sound. Although the group's first three albums had notable success in the United Kingdom, sales in the United States were less significant. In September 2008, the singles "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody" catapulted the band to worldwide fame while the album Only by the Night earned Platinum certification in the United States.
