More about Kings of Leon
Biography
Throughout their career, Kings of Leon has released several albums that marked different stages. After Only by the Night, came Come Around Sundown in October 2010, followed by Mechanical Bull in September 2013. They then continued with Walls in October 2016, When You See Yourself in March 2021, and most recently Can We Please Have Fun in May 2024. They have been recognized with 4 Grammy Awards out of 12 nominations, including the award for Record of the Year for "Use Somebody" in 2010. The origin of their sound is linked to their upbringing; their parents, Ivan Leon Followill, a preacher, and Betty-Ann, accompanied them on an itinerant life through the southern United States. After their parents' divorce in 1997, and with influences from songwriters like Angelo Petraglia, who introduced them to bands like Thin Lizzy, The Rolling Stones, and The Clash, along with Jared's own influences from Pixies and The Velvet Underground, the band was formed in 1999. The group's name, in fact, comes from their grandfather Leon, who passed away in January 2014.
