Kenya Grace

The sound of Kenya Grace moves between layers of drum and bass and melodies that flow like an electronic whisper. It's not just the rhythm that captivates, but how she builds it from her bedroom: Strangers was born there, with a borrowed keyboard and the intention of creating something that would lift the mood. There's something in her way of working that feels intimate, as if each note carried the weight of a confession recorded between four walls. It's not music to dance to in an empty club, but to feel that someone else is going through the same as you.

Before Strangers exploded on social media, there were earlier attempts that led her to that point. In 2019, she released Obsessed and Tell Me Why, the latter written in a moment of frustration, with words still trembling from an argument. Later, in 2023, Afterparty Lover and Meteor marked a shift toward brighter sounds, as if she were refining the style that would later define her. But it was in July of that year when everything changed: a video on her TikTok account, with her playing the track on electronic pads, amassed millions of views in days. She wasn't seeking virality, just sharing what she had created.

More about Kenya Grace

Biography

When Strangers reached the charts in September 2023, it had already been the background track in thousands of videos for weeks. Its rise to the top of the UK Singles Chart wasn't a coincidence: the industry noticed that a British artist, for the first time in nearly a decade, had achieved this with a fully original track. Less than a month later, a slower, more melancholic version of the same song reinforced her presence. And in December, with Paris, she announced her first EP, The After Taste, which would be released in March 2024. It's not just the success that matters here, but how she built it: from the solitude of her bedroom to the center of the charts.
