Jorge Cardoso

The sound of Jorge Cardoso is nourished by a deep connection with South American folklore and the music of past eras, such as the Renaissance and Baroque. His work, which exceeds 400 compositions, ranges from pieces for solo guitar to elaborate formations with orchestra. What is interesting is that many of these creations, which we hear today in performances by guitarists from all over the world, were born from the hand of a musician who also dedicated himself to medicine.

His musical training is as rich as his production. He perfected himself as a classical guitarist at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, a solid foundation for then exploring and transcribing pieces of a folkloric nature from various parts of South America, as well as works from the European repertoire. This duality between the Latin American root and European classical tradition is a distinctive mark in his proposal.
