Good Neighbours

When Good Neighbours plays, it does so with layers of melodies that intertwine like a living fabric. It’s not music to stay still: their tracks invite you to tap your feet, even if the weight of each note pulls you into soundscapes. Olivier Masson, Nathalie Laplante, and Alexandre Laplante crafted a sound that breathes between ambient and post-rock, yet never loses its pulse. They drew inspiration from bands like The American Analog Set or The Six Parts Seven, where melodic loops and the rhodes become the thread guiding songs that, though instrumental, carry a narrative force. The bass and guitars weave into rhythms that don’t always follow traditional time signatures, yet always end up hooking the listener.

The trio spent two years working on what would become their debut material, aiming to capture that blend of warmth and abstraction defining their style. They weren’t looking to imitate anyone, but to build something reflecting their personal tastes: songs that could sound just as fitting over a solitary sunset as in a crowded room moving to the beat. The result was a sound oscillating between the ethereal and the earthly, with layers that overlap without drowning each other out, leaving room for each instrument to breathe.
