Farruko

Farruko is a name that resonates in reggaeton like one of those sounds that know how to move between catchy rhythms and straightforward lyrics. His style doesn’t stay in one place: he blends reggaeton with touches of Latin pop and hip hop, but always with one foot on the street, where music is lived and felt. From his earliest tracks, it was clear he wasn’t just another artist in the crowd. Songs like «Bla, bla, bla» in 2007, produced by Phantom and Villa, put him on the radar, but it was «Sexo fuera del planeta» with Fifer the following year that caught the attention of producers like Alex Gárgolas. That detail—that one of his songs stood out to someone with weight in the industry—already speaks to his ability to connect with audiences without needing filters.

The leap to fame came with El Talento del Bloque, his debut album released in 2010 when he was barely nineteen. The record wasn’t just a simple debut: it entered the Top Latin Albums at position 50 and the Latin Rhythm Albums chart at sixth place, no small feat for a new artist. Among the collaborations were big names like Cosculluela, Arcángel, and even José Feliciano, but what stood out were songs like «Nena fichu» or «Te iré a buscar», tracks that showcased his knack for crafting melodies that stick without losing reggaeton’s essence. That year also marked the start of a series of collaborations with figures like Daddy Yankee, something that would become a recurring theme in his career.

More about Farruko

Biography

In 2012, with The Most Powerful Rookie, Farruko took another step forward. The album earned him his first Latin Grammy nomination in the category of best urban music album, an accolade not everyone achieves in their second work. Songs like «Titerito» or «Hola beba» became instant hits, but what was interesting was how the record blended rhythm with lyrics ranging from romantic to festive. That same year, conflicts with other artists—like Kendo Kaponi and Arcángel—crept into his music, but even amid those tensions, Farruko pressed on, proving his career wouldn’t be derailed by outside feuds.
