Eurythmics

The sound of Eurythmics is defined by the unique fusion of Annie Lennox's voice and Dave Stewart's innovative production. Emerging in the early 1980s, this British duo explored the possibilities of synth pop and techno pop, also standing out for their music videos. Their musical proposal was enriched by Lennox's androgynous and sometimes controversial image, creating a distinctive style that resonated in the music scene. Before forming Eurythmics, Lennox and Stewart had already shared their path in bands like The Catch and, later, The Tourists, a group that disbanded in 1980. It was after this experience, seeking greater creative freedom and moving away from the tensions of a fixed formation, that they decided to embark on a more flexible project as a duo.

The turning point for Eurythmics came with their second album, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), released in 1983. While their first work, In the Garden (1981), had limited commercial impact, this second record catapulted the duo to worldwide fame. The song that gives the album its title became a global hit, reaching number two in the United Kingdom and the top spot in Canada and the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. From there, they continued to reap successes with singles like Love Is a Stranger, There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart) and Here Comes the Rain Again, consolidating their presence on the popularity charts until their initial breakup in 1990.
