Cris MJ is not just another name in the Chilean urban scene: his sound breaks the mold. From his beginnings in the 17 de Septiembre neighborhood in La Serena, he built an identity where reggaeton blends with atmospheric rap and melodies reminiscent of the 80s pop twists. He is not an artist who plays it safe; in every track, he seeks a balance between raw and commercial, as if mixing in a single jar the street rhythm of Medellín with the elegance of someone who wants to sound beyond genre limits. This is evident in songs like «Frozen», where the chorus plays with the structure of Michael Jackson, but without falling into imitation. It is not an empty homage: it is a statement of intent, as if saying that reggaeton can have layers, not just drum beats.

The leap to the international scene came in 2022 with «Una noche en Medellín», a track that not only hit the radios but also sneaked into Spotify’s global charts. That single took him on a tour through Mexico and to the Summer Fest, but what followed was different. In 2024, «Gata Only» — alongside FloyyMenor — not only entered the Billboard Hot 100 but also topped the Hot Latin Songs. It was no coincidence: the track has a flow that hooks quickly, but also a production that avoids the clichés of the most repetitive reggaeton. After that success, came collaborations with Kali Uchis and Jhayco in «Si no es contigo», a remix that proved Cris MJ can move between genres without losing his essence.
