About the album
Doble vida, according to DoReSol
The title Doble Vida was no coincidence: it emerged among several options like La ciudad de la furia, but ended up reflecting the band’s moment of transition. After closing their chapter with Ohanian Producciones, Soda Stereo took the leap to Triple Producciones, their own company, right during the tour for this album. The official release was on July 7 at The Tunnel, New York, and the launch came on September 23. But the most striking aspect was the impact: mid-tour across the continent, CBS awarded them a platinum disc for surpassing one million copies sold, a record for a Latin American band at the time. They even performed at Hollywood Palace in Los Angeles, a historic venue few artists from the region had graced.
Among the songs that defined the album, En la ciudad de la furia became an instant anthem, while Picnic en el 4º B and Lo que sangra (La cúpula) showcased the band’s versatility. The rap in En el borde was another punch: something unusual in Argentine rock of the era. In 2007, the album was remastered at Sterling Sound, New York, to keep its freshness. Doble Vida didn’t just close a chapter; it opened doors: it was the first to bring Latin rock to markets like the U.S. without losing its essence.
