As the poet said was released in 1971, a year in which Brazilian music already had its own voice. The album has twelve songs, all written by Vinicius de Moraes, a poet who knew how to turn words into melody. The band that recorded it was a group of musicians who met in a studio in Rio de Janeiro. The sound is subtle, with instruments that move as if they were talking to each other. There is samba, waltz, and also songs that feel more like a conversation between friends.
